As many of you may know, my husband and I have a beautiful 2 year old daughter...who as most 2 year olds do make dinner time quite the hectic event when trying to eat out. Therefore over the past few months we have been cooking more at home! But we figured we needed to get out again, and after all there are too many great restaurants out there we are missing!
That being said, we recently went to a restaurant on Main St., Dunedin, FL that we loved! Its a family owned restaurant in a little strip mall just east of County Rd. 1. My parents live down the road and had decided to try it out when it first opened. Now my dad being a good ol' southern boy is a good judge of food. If he says its good - you know its good!
On the outside you would never realize how much character this restaurant has. Run by a husband wife team and their two daughters, the inside of the place is like a little Nashville haven right in the heart of Dunedin! It has a country decor but not like your Grandmother's knitting room - more like Nashville Star! There is a small stage setup with a microphone and a guitar ready to be played should a legend walk in. On the two walls are flat screen TVs mounted high and playing Country Music Videos. Even more impressive is the mural painted of famous country music legends on the wall behind the bar.
I know, I know, thats just the decor - the food is great too! From country fried steak to open faced turkey or roast beef sandwiches, its yummy home cookin'. They are open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Their breakfast looks incredible - I didn't get to try that personally yet, but I did try their grits and they aren't instant! :-) My husband Eric liked the onion rings, and while they were very good, my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE were the "Corn Fritters". These were like funnel cake balls filled with corn, deep fried and dusted with powdered sugar. These were sooooo good! (Tip: They only serve these on their dinner menu).
