Pecan Pie Bars

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1cup chopped pecans
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
Confectioners sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in 8x8x2 inch pan. In small bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, baking soda, and pecans.

In a separate mixing bowl, beat eggs. Stir in brown sugar mixture and vanilla. Pour this mixture over the melted butter in the pan. Do not stir. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Let cool slightly. Cut in bars and sprinkle with confectioners sugar (optional). Makes about 18 bars.
